NAME:
Rick Parker
PREVIOUS CLUBS:
Played local football in both the Cheshire and Stockport Leagues winning about a dozen trophies. I stayed loyal throughout to a local club because many of my good mates played for them and the football was decent and we had such a brilliant laugh socially.
CHILDHOOD CRUSH:
Catherine Bach & Debbie Harry.
FAVOURITE PROFESSIONAL PLAYER OF ALL TIME:
George Best - he could do anything, he would be untouchable with today's rules and pitches. Many years ago he used to live in Cheshire about 1 mile away from me and I knocked on his door and got his autograph in my football annual that had an A4 photo of him in it.
FAVOURITE ODIAXERE CLUB PLAYER:
There are a lot of good players at the club but I admire Tom Wilson especially for his fitness at his age and his love and desire for the game whilst playing with a smile on his face.
MOST DIFFICULT ODIAXERE CLUB OPPONENT:
Mike Williams can be difficult to play against and Big Roger can be a handful.
MOST MEMORABLE MATCH:
Being at the Camp Nou Barcelona in 1999 to watch Manchester United do the treble by beating Bayern Munich in such a dramatic way.
BIGGEST THRILL:
The birth of my two sons and been flown in a private helicopter from Nice to Monaco where I got to drive a Formula 3 and then a Formula 1 racing car on a private track all courtesy of Cable & Wireless.
JOHN LENNON OR PAUL McCARTNEY:
Lennon - for the song Imagine, what a shame people and leaders can’t adopt its message, the world would be far more peaceful.
OASIS OR BLUR:
Oasis even though they are annoying Man City fans.
BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT:
My dad passed away unexpectedly one night in his sleep and he never got to see his two young grandsons develop into the lovely men they are today.
BEST COUNTRY VISITED:
Cuba, loved the people and the old beautiful vintage cars and the vibe with great music and fantastic dancing in many bars.
FAVOURITE FOOD:
A Sunday roast, nice steak and a good genuine Indian curry (not all at the same time though).
FAVOURITE PORTUGUESE FOOD:
Pig’s cheeks, but love fairly much all of their delicious food.
FAVOURITE DRINK:
Back in England mainly a nice pint of cask bitter, in sunny Portugal an ice cold Sagres, I also like the Vinho Verde and red wine here as well.
MISCELLANEOUS LIKES:
Happy genuine people with a good sense of humour.
MISCELLANEOUS DISLIKES:
False, negative and narcissistic people and most politicians who constantly lie and line their own pockets.
FAVOURITE TV SHOW
The drama series, Life on Mars set in Manchester in the 70’s.
FAVOURITE FILM:
The Shawshank Redemption and Blazing Saddles.
FAVOURITE SINGER:
Rod Stewart in his younger days singing non-commercial songs and Paul Weller amongst others.
WHAT ONE ITEM WOULD YOU TAKE WITH YOU TO A DESERT ISLAND:
It would need to be Music on tap but ice cold beer on tap wouldn’t be too far behind.
WHICH ONE PERSON IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO MEET:
Jesus. I would love to witness some of his miracles first hand. I wouldn’t mind taking Charles Darwin along with me as well.
